Hi, I'm Katka Žgančíková Slovak hat designer and bearer of the wonderful millinery and hatmaking craft.

I created the ALATE brand in 2014 and it's been a heart project since the beginning. I love how personal accessory a hat can be and how playful and authentic it looks. For me, the hat was and still is an object, a sculpture, a piece of art.

My studio is located in Trnava, in the city center. It is an attic space with a view of the rooftops of the town and a small balcony.

The idea of making hats came to me while working as a set designer in theatre and film. I've always been fascinated by headwear and it developed into a passion for creating them.

The collections are made to measure and handcrafted. With fire or not. Freely. Creatively. Bold.
